Exposure for your Wedding Planning Business

If you are thinking about growing your business and want more exposure on the Internet, primarily targeting search engines, you should consider doing the following:

Website: if you have a website, you should definitely consider search engine optimization. This will give you an opportunity to appear in search engines, i.e., Google, Yahoo, Dogpile, etc. after you have tagged key words on your site that would attract potential customers to your website.

Website Grader:  Marks the effectivess of a website incorporating factors like traffic, SEO and social popularity.  It will also let you know when your grade for your website has increased and decreased and the reason why.

Copy Scape: This service protects online content.  It also provides online plagiarism detection solutions and offers a free plagiarism warning banners for your website. 

Google: Do I need to say anything more. You want to make sure that you are on the first page when someone does a search using your key terms that you have used for your Google account.

Linkedin: (www.linkedin.com) A lot of professionals use this website. I would suggest that you join, complete your profile and then join industry groups. It is also good to respond to some of the inquiries that your group participants ask. Your name will appear on someone’s search engine. You will also have the opportunity to network to new industry relationships, potential business partners, reacquaint yourself with old friends and network to new opportunities.

Blog: If a potential client visits your blog, he/she should get the impression that you are on top of industry trends by the content of your blog. Please make sure that your blog appears in search engines. If you write an article for your blog or anyone’s blog, make sure that you complete the column that says key words or tags.

Articles: Write an article about whatever you are passionate about in the industry. There are several free websites that will publish your article and it will be featured in several search engines. Complete the tag words entry form.

Twitter: I just started my twitter account about a month ago. Go to twitter, set up your account, look for people in the industry that you want to connect with and start to follow them. Answer inquiries or make comments and your name will appear in search engines.

What’s important about appearing in search engines? It will give your prominence in the industry. A potential client will see that you have written articles, have an industry blog, and connected with people who are top notch in the industry. I am connected with Preston Bailey (if you do not know who he is, you better ask someone), Martha Stewart, etc.

How do you become an expert in the wedding planning industry? Education, Education, Education; Volunteering; Partnering with Other Wedding Planners; and Thinking Outside the Box.  Attend free or cost-effective seminars that will increase your industry knowledge. I highly recommend the Special Events Show which will be held next January in Arizona. Attend seminars hosted by the New York Public Library (Science, Business Industry Library on 34th Street/Madison Avenue). It has a lot of seminars pertaining to new business owners and will assist you with growing your business. Follow blogs of successful industry professionals. Join an association, i.e., ISES, MPI, Association of Bridal Consultants, Weddings Beautiful Worldwide for networking and educational opportunities. Subscribe to blogs and newsletters from industry leaders that you respect.

Google Alerts: use specific phrases such as wedding planning courses, wedding planners, or names of those individuals who you admire and every time their name or phrase appears on Google, you will receive an alert.
